Do you measure for bras there? Do you offer halter and/or strapless maternity bras?
Hi,
Yes, we are all certified bra fitters. All of our bras are maternity/nursing. Some of them have a criss-cross back that could be worn with a halter. However, it would depend on the width of the strap you would prefer. A strapless bra could be found where you shop for your favorite bras. It would not need to be maternity/nursing. The release of the bra strap is what makes it a nursing bra.

Hi Maria,
Yes, your baby can nurse with and incorrect latch. However, an incorrect latch is usually associated with sore nipples and insufficient milk transfer. To assure proper latch and milk transfer, please seek the assistance of your local Lactation Consultant. You can find a Lactation Consultant in your area by going to http://www.ilca.org.

I will be offering a DONA Approved Breastfeeding Class in April 2010. It will be held at Babyology, in Louisville, KY. The class will meet the requirement for DONA Birth Doula Certification. I will send you more details in February. Or, DONA has an online option at DONA.org.

I had heard that it is a state law in KY for employers to provide breaks for employees to pump so as to provide food/milk for their babies. Does anyone know more about this, or where I could get more information?

You can find Kentucky Breastfeeding Laws and a complete list of all state breastfeeding laws at: http://www.llli.org/Law/LawMain. Kentucky Breastfeeding laws protect the right of a woman to breastfeed her child and her right to express her milk and it is not considered indecent. Kentucky does not have a work place breastfeeding law. However, all full-time employees are to be given a 10 minute break for every 4 hours worked and a resonable amount of time for lunch between 3-5 hours after the work day has commenced. I noticed in your brochure that you offer rental of your Baby Weigh Scale or Baby Checker Scale. What is the difference in the two and what is the price on rental? Do you have to reserve a time for rental in advance?
With a BabyWeigh Scale you can do before and after feeding weights to determine baby’s intake a each feeding. A BabyChecker Scale is for weighing baby once a day to determine a weight trend. The BabyWeigh rents for $5.25 per day; $35 for 7 days; and, $96 per month. The BabyChecker rents for $2.00 a day or $35 a month. These are usually in stock and ready to rent. Hi, I was wondering if there is a local way to recycle a broken breast pump? I have an Avent Isis IQ Uno and the manufacturer (Philips) no longer supports it (It’s 3 years old). I looked on Louisville’s recycling website and it doesn’t look like it’s one of the products supported in their electronic recycling program. Thanks for any tips!

Purchase breastpumps are single user items and cannot be recycled. There is a risk of cross-contimination. Unlike a hospital-grade rental pump that has a closed motor system.

I am familiar with your store, I was actually just there today I purchased two of your “the supreme nursing bra” size 38E and they fit in the store one I havnt even worn, but they seem a little snug after I wore them after about an hour, I was wondering if you except returns, I would like them in a bigger size. As long as the bras show no signs of wear and they have not been washed, you can return within 30 days of purchase.

Yes, we have underwire bras. The largest underwire that Medela makes is 44F or the 42H, and Bravado has a 38 F/G. All of our other larger support bras are not available in underwire. You might bring your bra in and see if it could be altered to give you more support or just to recheck the fit.

We offer a prenatal breastfeeding class the 4th Saturday of each month for only $20. If mom is more interested in a twins specific class, we can schedule a private class for $75 by appointment. It would be more cost effective for her to attend the regular monthly class, and then get a private lactation consultation after the babies arrive. A regular consult for one baby is $95, and the price for twins is x 1.5 = $142.50. We allow up to two hours or more devoted to accessment of each baby’s needs and abilities, then develop a specific plan for mom and babies to meet their breastfeeding goals. Also, the Mother’s of Twins Club can be a wonderful resource for moms!
